TREC is working with community partners to explore the possibility of new workforce housing in Teton Valley—an effort designed to support our local businesses, strengthen employee retention, and create long-term stability for the people who keep our valley running. As part of this early planning phase, we’re gathering input from business owners and organizational leaders through a short survey.

Your feedback will directly guide what this project becomes. The more we understand about your needs, the better we can support a solution that works for our whole community.

Why Your Voice Matters

Workforce housing is one of the largest challenges facing Teton Valley. Businesses regularly cite housing shortages as a barrier to recruiting, hiring, and keeping staff. By participating in this survey, you’re helping identify practical solutions and sharing what would truly make a difference for your team.

What We’re Asking

The survey includes a handful of focused questions designed to identify specific needs and gauge overall interest:

  • Would dedicated workforce housing help with recruitment and retention?
Many employers have expressed challenges finding long-term employees due to limited housing options. Your response helps quantify the need.
  • What types of units and quantities would be most helpful?
We’re looking at real numbers: studios, one-bedrooms, two-bedrooms, and beyond. Your estimates help shape a feasible housing mix.
  • What lease terms and rental rates would your organization realistically support?
This ensures planning aligns with what employers—and employees—can sustain.
  • Would you consider signing a non-binding Letter of Intent (LOI) for a master lease to reserve a block of units?
This isn’t a commitment, but it helps us determine early interest and viability.
  • Do you have commercial space needs that could be incorporated into a future project?
If applicable, we’re asking about size, budget, intended use, and tenant improvements to understand how a mixed-use concept could serve local businesses.
  • Would a new START Bus stop be valuable to your staff?
Transportation access plays a major role in workforce mobility, and your input will help evaluate whether a transit stop belongs in this project.
